The Sea Is Silent
When Seth MacClellan, an ambitious white-collar crime reporter for a large newspaper in Atlanta, completely botches an investigative story, he brings shame and financial ruin to both himself and the paper. He’s also reeling from the loss of the love of his life. In an effort to disappear and start over, he takes a menial job as the fishing reporter with a small paper on the coast of Virginia.
During late nights on a misty pier looking over the sea, he latches onto another investigative story that he hopes will bring him redemption as a journalist and perhaps even allow him to love again. But his relentless pursuit of the truth takes him down another ominous path that could end up killing more than just his career.
"Is there anything more addictive than a good quest-for-redemption story? Seth McClellan, recovering from the dual blows of lost love and career Armageddon, is setting out to uncover a criminal conspiracy in a small beach town, with a rogues’ gallery of colorful locals at his back. All this is brought to life by the deft hand of Cameron Kent, whose way with North Carolina color and relatable characters will delight mystery readers."
⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ "Good fiction, like The Sea is Silent by Cameron Kent, can enable us to explore the 'What if’s' of both personal and corporate challenges and promises in life. Whether personally or in our society, we are all affected by issues of power, greed, violence, corruption, etc. While we desire love, honesty, respect, and purpose in life, sometimes these seemingly positive virtues can be distorted and harmful to ourselves and others. Cameron Kent has provided us with an excellent story that engages us in wrestling with these forces in our society. Kent, a former reporter and news broadcaster, follows his protagonist, Seth MacClellan, through the temptations and the lure of being a young investigative reporter. Seth, while having a good heart, is also hungry for success and fame. Corruption, greed, and cover-ups are to an investigative reporter like a water hole to a thirsty horse. Shamed but not defeated when his 'big story' turns out to be false, the hunger for redemption and the glitter of the Watergate myth drives him on to the next big expose. As Seth’s story unfolds, we are exposed to the strengths and weaknesses of humans who seek to be David defeating their Goliath only to discover that the giants of this world have some ingenious tricks of their own. Woven into the story are the promise and perils of finding the woman of his dreams only to discover that even love can become an albatross that seeks to distort our perceptions of reality. Good fiction can both entertain us and cause us to think deeply about the challenges of our society. The story that has you asking yourself 'what would I have done,' helps exercise both our rationale and moral muscles and prepare us for a healthier life. Kent provides you with this type of story. You will enjoy the read, but it will be even better if you have a couple of friends read it and discuss it with you. Enjoy The Sea is Silent, a mystery that feeds the reader."
⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ "Years ago I read Cameron Kent's book, When The Ravens Die, years later I read it again.. I was completely captivated. Now having read The Sea is Silent, It sounds cliche, but I couldn't put it down. Just about the time I would try and put it down, he'd throw in another twist and add more suspense or touch the heart. The letters between Seth and Grace definitely tugged at the heart strings. I didn't understand at first what the title The Sea is Silent meant. It is revealed later in the book and completely makes sense and is relatable! What an imagination Mr. Kent has! I may need to read it again to see if there is anything I missed the first time!"
⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ "Great read! Cameron Kent has done a masterful job intertwining multiple storylines and giving closure at the end. . Great character development. Captivating from page 1."
